I-ONT inokwethenjelwa okuphezulu futhi ingasetshenziswa ezindaweni zokushisa ezibanzi. Futhi inemisebenzi enamandla yokuvikela umlilo futhi kulula ukuyiphatha nokuyinakekela. Inganikeza isiqinisekiso se-QoS ngezinsizakalo ezahlukahlukene. Ivumelana nezindinganiso zamazwe ngamazwe zobuchwepheshe ezifana ne-IEEE802.3ah ne-ITU-T G.984.
